Optimum wear protection
Titanium and titanium materials are primarily used in the aviation industry, in motorsport and in medical technology. The relatively poor wear properties can be improved through nitriding. Approximately 1–3-µm-thick TiN layers are produced. The surface hardness is greater than 1,000 HV 0.1. Since the layer forms out of the base material, it does not tend to chip like PVD layers. The TiN layers are biocompatible.
Benefits:
- Wear-resistant
- No chipping
- Biocompatible
