Why would I partially nitride components? How can I mask during plasma nitriding?
Partial nitriding by masking opens up considerable opportunities to the engineer for composite structures, such as optimum weldability and compressibility. At the same time, dimensional stability and form retention can be further improved through skilful masking!
Plasma nitriding is the only nitriding process which offers the opportunity to mechanically mask areas. In other processes, this is only possible by laboriously applying and removing expensive stop-off pastes. As a result, partial treatment in the plasma is possible even in mass production and fully automated.
